Conor McGregor’s UFC 303 Gate Soars to $27 Million, Sonnen Reports Despite Three-Year Hiatus

Chael Sonnen, in a recent video, implied that the gate revenue from UFC 303, featuring McGregor’s return, exceeded Dana White’s reported $20 million.

He claimed insider information suggesting the actual number was significantly higher, indicating McGregor’s immense draw despite not fighting for a title in three years and changing weight classes.

“That little $23 million gate that you hear about? Its not sold out, that thing was going to come in closer to $27 million when it was done. That beats Conor’s own record. He was going to beat his own number one record by 80%…. They’re still doing record business.”

Chael Sonnen’s sources suggest that Conor McGregor’s return at UFC 303 generated a gate revenue significantly higher than his previous record of $17.7 million from UFC 205.

If accurate, this means McGregor surpassed his own record by approximately $10 million, showcasing his unparalleled drawing power in the UFC despite returning from injury and not competing for a title.

Conor McGregor has reportedly sustained a minor injury to his previously injured shinbone, but it’s not considered serious. There’s optimism that he could return to fighting before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Michael Chandler remains determined to secure a high-profile fight, ideally against McGregor.

Dana White mentioned Chandler’s desire for a “red panty night,” referencing a lucrative fight, and expressed openness to having Chandler compete in the summer before arranging a bout with McGregor later on.

It will indeed be intriguing to see how the UFC accommodates Conor McGregor, especially with many pay-per-view events already scheduled.

McGregor’s immense star power historically suggests that the UFC tends to prioritize his preferences, potentially rearranging plans to capitalize on his drawing ability, which has set numerous records in the past.

This flexibility could mean adjusting schedules or creating special events to maximize McGregor’s impact on viewership and revenue.
