WWE has been known to release numerous wrestlers over the years, and in recent weeks, the TKO-operated wrestling promotion has let go of multiple in-ring competitors. Among those who have parted ways with WWE in May 2024 are Gable Steveson, Drew Gulak, and several developmental talents. The wrestling community was taken by surprise when news broke on April 19, 2024, during WWE SmackDown, about the releases of Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, and Xyon Quinn. Following this, on April 20th, Sanga and Veer Mahaan of Indus Sher were also let go.

Von Wagner and Cameron Grimes were not spared either, with their releases happening on April 22nd and the day after, respectively. Even WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler did not have his broadcasting contract extended, although reports indicate he still maintains a WWE legends deal. Additionally, former NXT competitor Guru Raaj, who had been inactive in the ring for over a year, was quietly moved to the Alumni section on WWE’s website in late April, signaling his departure from the company.

The month of April often marks a period when observers anticipate WWE conducting ‘spring cleaning’ post-WrestleMania, leading to the departure of several in-ring talents. May 2024 witnessed another wave of talents leaving the Stamford-based promotion. The question now arises: where should these released performers go next? This article delves into the potential destinations for these wrestlers, looking at six individuals who recently left WWE and exploring possible career paths for them.

Drew Gulak’s departure from WWE in May 2024 came amidst controversy involving Ronda Rousey, who accused him of inappropriate behavior. Despite conflicting reports, Triple H clarified that Gulak’s contract simply expired. As he seeks new opportunities, Gulak could consider a return to the indie circuit, where he could nurture upcoming talents. With ties to AEW through his wrestling school and past connections, joining the promotion could be a promising move for Gulak, potentially aligning him with established names like Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho.
