D Srinivas, former Andhra Pradesh Congress president, passed away at 76 after a brief illness. He served as PCC president during key elections in 2004 and 2009 and was a minister in YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet.
He later became a Rajya Sabha member for BRS from 2016 to 2022 before rejoining the Congress party.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Telangana ministers, and senior leaders of the Congress party have expressed their condolences over the demise of D Srinivas.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed condolences over the death of D Srinivas, highlighting his contributions as a minister and MP, and acknowledging his commitment to his values.
“I am anguished by the death of senior Telangana Congress leader and united state’s (Andhra Pradesh) former PCC (Congress) president Dharmapuri Srinivas. He left his mark in public service as a minister and MP,” said Naidu in a post on ‘X’.
The TDP supremo expressed sympathy to Srinivas’ family members. Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed sorrow over the senior politician’s death, recalling the association Srinivas shared with his late father YS Rajasekhar Reddy as unforgettable. Several leaders from the southern state also paid tribute to Srinivas.
