Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Expanded: Ramniwas Rawat Sworn in as Minister

Ramniwas Rawat

Ramniwas Rawat’s induction into the Madhya Pradesh cabinet on July 8 expands the BJP-led government under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s leadership.

This move is part of efforts to strengthen governance and leadership within the state.

Ramniwas Rawat, who has been a six-time MLA from Vijaypur in Sheopur district, recently joined the BJP after quitting the Congress during the Lok Sabha poll campaign on April 30.

He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Mangubhai Patel in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan.

This marks his formal inclusion as a Minister in the Madhya Pradesh government led by CM Yadav.

Ramniwas Rawat, despite joining the BJP, has not yet resigned from the State assembly. His confirmation of switching sides to the ruling party was initially hesitant after joining during a poll rally.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who took office on December 13, 2023, following the Assembly elections, expanded his cabinet on December 25 by inducting 28 legislators.

With Mr. Rawat’s induction, the cabinet now consists of 29 members. The Madhya Pradesh cabinet can have a maximum of 34 members.
