HD Revanna, a former Karnataka Minister and JD(S) MLA, has termed the allegations against his son Suraj Revanna of sexually abusing a male party worker as a “conspiracy”. Suraj Revanna, a 37-year-old MLC and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was arrested on Sunday in Hassan on charges of “unnatural offences” against him. Police sources stated that Suraj was booked on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing the party worker a few days ago and under different sections of the IPC, including “unnatural offences”.
Revanna, speaking to reporters, refused to react to the allegations, stating that he had faith in God and the judiciary. He expressed confidence that the investigating agency, CID, would take care of the matter and that he would not react to any propaganda or vested interest. He emphasized that he had respect for the judiciary and was aware of the conspiracy that was unfolding in the state.
Regarding the allegations, Revanna merely said that he did not know what was happening and would reveal everything when the time was right. When asked who could be behind the conspiracy, he refused to speculate, saying it was for the media to uncover. He also stated that Suraj had gone to the police and was well aware of the events that had transpired over the past few days.

Suraj Revanna, who has categorically denied the allegations, had also alleged that the party worker had filed a false complaint against him in a bid to extort Rs 5 crore from him. The police had registered a case of extortion against the JD(S) worker, Shivakumar, on a complaint from Suraj’s close aide.
Revanna’s stance on the matter is remarkable, given the severity of the allegations and the fact that his son is facing serious charges. By terming the accusations a “conspiracy”, Revanna is attempting to deflect attention from the allegations and create doubt about the integrity of the complainant. The case is already generating significant controversy, with many in the political circles calling for a thorough investigation and the truth to be uncovered.
