Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, made heads turn during the latest episode of NXT when he subtly referenced AEW. The American Nightmare, during a backstage segment, extended his best wishes to his former AEW colleague Shawn Spears for the upcoming Battle Royal. However, the conversation took an interesting turn when they were interrupted by two former AEW stars, Ethan Page and Lexis King. Rhodes then subtly referenced AEW by saying, “Seems like you guys are in a good place!”

Bully Ray, a WWE Hall of Famer, took to social media to react to the segment, writing, “This segment was dynamite.” The legendary wrestler’s tweet was in itself a reference to AEW’s show, Dynamite.

In addition, Bill Apter, during the latest edition of Wrestling’s UnSKripted, gave his views on Rhodes’ announcement of a 25-man Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Championship. Apter speculated that WWE might have forged a relationship with TNA, which could lead to crossover matches between the two promotions.

It remains to be seen which TNA star will feature in the 25-man Battle Royal on next week’s episode of NXT. The segment has already caught the attention of wrestling fans and industry veterans alike, leaving many to wonder what’s next in store for the Stamford-based promotion.
