Alexis Mac Allister has disclosed an amusing anecdote about how Mohamed Salah influenced his choice of pre-match warm-up attire shortly after he joined Liverpool.
The Argentine international confessed that during his time at Brighton, he preferred to wear trousers for his warm-up routine.
However, upon his arrival at Liverpool, Salah jokingly questioned his choice during a warm-up session before a match against Sheffield United, prompting Mac Allister to make the switch to shorts.
Recalling the incident, he shared with club media: “When I was in Brighton, I used to wear trousers.
Then I cam here and I remember against Sheffield [United] we went out to the warm up and I was wearing a hat and trousers and Mo Salah told me ‘What are you doing? Why are you wearing that?’ So since that day, I never wore trousers… Only because of Mo.”
While the reason behind Salah’s playful objection remains unclear, Mac Allister’s change in attire hasn’t affected his performance.
He has been a significant contributor to Liverpool’s campaign this season, notching three goals and providing four assists in the Premier League.
Mac Allister is set to face his former club Brighton on Sunday as they visit Anfield in the Premier League.
The Reds currently sit second in the table, level on points with Arsenal and one point ahead of Manchester City. Following Liverpool’s fixture, the reigning champions, Manchester City, will square off against Arsenal in what promises to be an intriguing clash.
