As the countdown begins to King Charles’ coronation on May 6th, Buckingham Palace staff are reportedly making arrangements for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including Prince Harry and Meghan, to attend the historic ceremony. According to the Daily Mail, palace officials are factoring in the couple’s presence when planning logistics such as car transportation, seating in Westminster Abbey, and dining. However, the couple has yet to confirm their attendance, and a spokesperson for the Sussexes has stated that an immediate decision on their attendance is not imminent.

It is understood that Harry and Meghan have received correspondence from the King’s office regarding the coronation, but no update has been provided as to whether they will make an appearance. Officials within the Master of the Household’s Department and the Lord Chamberlain’s Office are, however, anticipating their attendance, suggesting that the palace is preparing for the possibility that the couple will attend.

The relationship between the Sussexes and the King has remained strained in recent years, particularly in the wake of Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare, in which he criticized Charles’ parenting and accused his brother, Prince William, of physically attacking him. The couple has also been critical of the royal family and the monarchy, sharing their story through a Netflix documentary and a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In a turn of events, it was recently reported that Harry and Meghan have been asked to vacate their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, in a move sanctioned by the King. With the coronation approaching, it remains to be seen whether the couple will take advantage of the opportunity to attend a significant royal event, especially considering that May 6th marks Prince Archie’s fourth birthday. Buckingham Palace has yet to comment on the situation, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the Sussexes’ potential attendance at King Charles’ coronation.
