Probably the best thing about this year and the greatest news to come in 2020 is the fact that comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, the man himself. Just recently, the industry heavyweight reported that the iPhone 13 range would see the same four model sizes just as this year’s iPhone 12 series did and will also come with a better camera. But that’s not all. There’s so much more you need to know about the smartphone series coming next year. Keep scrolling the page to every bit of what the industry analysts are saying. Here we go.
Apple will release 2021 iPhone models named the 13 series, and its camera is at the center of the debate. In the upcoming series, according to noted industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo is slated to have major improvements in ultra-wide cameras. These two high-end models shall be known as iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. These big camera improvements also include an improved f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus instead of the f/2.4, 5P (five-element lens) ultra-wide cameras with a fixed focus on the current iPhone 12 range.
The iPhone 13 series shall be premium models in the 2021 iPhone, unlike any other predecessor seen before. Industry analyst Kuo mentioned all of this in his investor note. Upon accession by MacRumors, it indeed confirmed that the newest range would shift to an improved ultra-wide camera with f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus. After the improved lens in 2021, the company will have more improved technology in the 2022 iPhone models. The 13 and 14 series are only presumably known like that. There is no confirmed news on each of these.
Kuo also suggested that Largan be the huge supplier of voice coil motors (VCM) for the improved ultra-wide cameras. He also added that Largan would obtain about 70 percent of the VCM orders for next year. For the iPhone 12 series, the company only received 50 percent of the ultra-wide-angle lens orders. More predictions on the phone included improvement in the 5G infrastructure. The iPhone 13 series will see a year-on-year increase in shipments because of better H2 2021 and the improved ultra-wide cameras.
As we mentioned before, Kuo noted that the iPhone 13 range would also come in the same four model sizes as 2020’s iPhone 12 has. Which also means that there shall be an iPhone 13 mini next year.
The iPhone 12 range was launched last month, and it created quite a stir with the four model sizes. Therefore news platforms have been busy focusing on the iPhone 12 and not the 13 series. There’s also the prediction that iPhone 13 may see a ‘shorter’ notch compared to iPhone 12, but with lesser depth. This was reported by the Tipster Ice Universe recently in its tweet, which you can check out below:
iPhone13 still continues the notch design, but notch is shorter.

Further information about the release date and prices remains unknown, but Apple usually released the iPhone towards the second half of the year. And therefore, this one may arrive at the end of 2022, if predictions are to go by. iPhone 13 may release on the fourth Friday of September 2021, as per our guesses and expectations.
