The ending of Shingeki no Kyojin did not make many manga fans happy. However, it happened and after the euphoria of this work that lasted more than 10 years passed, Hajime Isayama finally responded to all those criticisms that accused him of “ruining” his own creation.
Through an interview, the mangaka openly explained his impressions of what generated the end of Shingeki no Kyojin, the work of his entire life so far and with it, he reached the Olympus of manga writers and cartoonists.
There, he told in his own voice that he is very aware of the reactions that the ending generated, and is fully aware of the criticism of his work, so he briefly explained more clearly what he intended with each of the creative decisions you made.
First of all, he explained that it was never his intention to make it appear that Armin supported Eren’s actions. However, the way they ended their relationship was with Armin thanking Eren closely for what he did because it would have a benefit, but never accepting or supporting the way he did it.
Also, he said that writing and drawing the ending was quite complex for him, so he apologized if he failed to show his intentions and express what he wanted. He thought that he would be able to satisfy fans, but either way, he feels bad for those who were disappointed and is grateful for the support they gave him.
He added, finally, that the magazine only allowed him 51 pages for the end, so volume 34 will have extra pages to fill what was not allowed in the first launch, but there will be no change about the end because he thought in this in a way and it’s exactly what I wanted to represent.
