The most anticipated reveal of the year has finally happened and the Call Of Duty fans around the world weren’t disappointed. The event which hyped up for a very long time finally happened and it showed us many details on the upcoming Call of Duty: Cold War. The trailer was shown that showed us some gameplay, campaign, and release date. There were leaks about the story of the game which were along, Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to Black Ops 1 and its story starts in the year 1981 and continuing throughout the decade.
It is based on events that are similar to our world’s history which is the type of story Call of Duty is great at telling them. It will be fascinating to see how the new COD will portray the story of the Cold War. In this, we follow the story of the US task force who are trying to resist the plans of Perseus, he is a mysterious Soviet agent who is attempting to topple the established world order. Your group will be operating under the command of Ronald Reagan and under the leadership of the Russell Adler who is a mysterious man himself.
Your team consists of Hudson, Woods, and Mason, with some familiar characters from the Black Ops making supporting appearances. The characters that are in the game are some of the best characters the Call Of Duty as ever seen. As we know that Raven Software is working on the game as well and they are offering players freedom that isn’t seen that much in any other Call of Duty campaign. One of these new things is the character creator system that allows players to design their own single-player operator for the first time. The customization has eight stages, it includes skin tone and gender.
Players can fill all of these up and those that don’t want to do so can leave them as ‘classified’ to end up with more of a blank slate and if you didn’t divulge into your character’s gender then it will give you gender-neutral pronouns. There’s are some options which will affect in-game appearance and dialogue, some options have gameplay changes as well like if you have a psychological profile of “paranoid” will half the time it takes to aim down your sights, on the other hand, the “lone wolf” profile will allow the player to sprint for twice as long.
The campaign missions will have a lot of depth as well. There are many missions that will allow the players to take different paths in order to reach the objective and players will be given dialogue options at a point in the story. Furthermore, there many different objectives for which you will have to discover evidence that will unlock two optional missions. These take levels will give you more narrative context to these levels and the choices you make will impact the story.
But awesome things don’t stop there as there are missions in which players will be asked to accomplish an objective by several potential means. Amongst these missions, one is set in the KGB headquarters and you are a double agent. You the player will be able to poison a general, steal data, blackmail an officer or interrogate a prisoner all of this to complete your mission. The game will have the old school Call of Duty shootout and it will have many moments in which there will be world-bending sequences. Call of Duty Cold War will be releasing on the current console and PC on 12 November 2020.
