JD(U) Reaffirms Demand for Bihar’s Special Category Status, Appoints Sanjay Jha as Working President

Sanjay Jha has been appointed as the new working president of JD(U), known for his good relations with BJP leaders

The JD(U)’s recent decisions are indeed significant, particularly appointing Sanjay Jha as their new working president and reaffirming their alliance with the NDA.

Jha’s appointment, given his rapport with BJP leaders, signals an effort to strengthen ties and potentially secure benefits for Bihar, such as special category status or a tailored economic package.

It reflects their strategy to leverage political relationships for the state’s development goals.

The JD(U)’s national executive has called for either special category status or a special economic package for Bihar and demanded stringent legislation to combat paper leaks, particularly following the NEET-UG paper leak. The party has reaffirmed this demand since Bihar CM Nitish Kumar joined the NDA earlier this year.

Sanjay Jha has been appointed as the new working president of JD(U), known for his good relations with BJP leaders, which may help secure benefits for Bihar.

JD(U) also plans to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the Patna High Court’s decision to invalidate two key reservation acts in Bihar, which had raised the reservation quota from 50% to 65%.
