In a surprise move, actor Timothée Chalamet made an appearance at his own lookalike contest in Washington Square Park, New York on Sunday. The event, hosted by YouTube personality Anthony Po, was advertised on flyers around the city and attracted thousands of RSVPs. Fans and contestants alike were excited to participate in the competition, which promised a $50 prize to the winner. However, just minutes into the event, police intervened, ordering the large crowd to disperse and handing the organizers a $500 fine for an “unpermitted costume contest”.

Despite the disruption, the lookalikes and spectators relocated to a nearby park, where the competition continued. On a makeshift stage, contestants were asked a series of questions, including about their romantic plans with Kylie Jenner, whom Chalamet is rumored to be dating. The questions ranged from lighthearted to serious, with topics like French proficiency and what the contestants would do to make the world a better place.

Despite the chaos caused by the police intervention, the event still managed to attract a large and enthusiastic crowd. Eventually, a winner was crowned: Miles Mitchell, a Staten Island resident and student, who dressed up as Willy Wonka in a purple outfit and handed out sweets from a briefcase. Mitchell was thrilled to have won, saying that it was “exciting and overwhelming” and that the competition was “really a toss-up”.

The event was marred only by the incident with police, which resulted in at least one arrest and the issuance of a fine. Nevertheless, the lookalikes and their fans seemed to have a good time, and Chalamet’s surprise appearance only added to the excitement. The event was a testament to the power of pop culture and the dedication of fans to their favorite celebrities. As one of the contestants, Paige Nguyen, a producer for Anthony Po, said, “It started off as a silly joke and now it’s turned pandemonium”.
