Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh is set to launch a special campaign aimed at effectively addressing the grievances of family pensioners, with a focus on resolving issues related to defence, railway, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) pensioners. The month-long campaign, undertaken by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW), will involve 46 ministries and departments, and will run from July 1 to 31, 2024. The effort is designed to significantly reduce the pendency of family pension grievances, with a specific focus on redressing grievances related to bank-related issues.
The campaign will target a total of 1,891 family pension-related grievances, which is a subset of the total 90,000 cases registered on the Centralised Pension Grievance and Redress System (CPENGRAMS) in a year. Family pension grievances account for about 20-25 per cent of the total grievances registered on CPENGRAMS. Women pensioners make up the majority of those who register grievances, highlighting the need for a targeted approach to address their concerns.
During the campaign, secretaries and officials from various departments, including the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, Border Security Force, Controller General of Accounts, State Bank of India, and pensioners’ welfare associations, will participate. The DOPPW will monitor and provide assistance to the concerned ministries, departments, and organisations to ensure effective redressal of grievances through a mission-mode approach.
The campaign aims to identify and address the root cause of the problems and provide a solution to family pensioners’ concerns in a timely and efficient manner. The effort is intended to ensure that family pensioners receive their due benefits without facing any undue delay or inconvenience. The launch of the campaign is a significant development, as it recognises the need to address the grievances of family pensioners in a comprehensive and efficient manner. The DOPPW’s efforts will involve a coordinated approach to address the issues faced by family pensioners, and will ensure that their concerns are heard and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
