The estates of late musicians Prince and Tom Petty have also demanded that Trump refrain from using their music, while Rihanna issued a cease-and-desist letter after he played her 2007 hit “Don’t Stop The Music” at an event. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne sent a notice to Trump banning him from using Black Sabbath music in his campaign videos. The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Linkin Park, and many other artists have taken similar actions against Trump’s unauthorized use of their music.
The controversy highlights the importance of respecting the creative work of artists and the laws that protect it.
