Gosder Cherilus, a 40-year-old former NFL player, faced a world of trouble after an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Boston to Dublin. According to police, Cherilus boarded the plane already appearing intoxicated, and things quickly took a turn for the worse. As the flight took off, he grew increasingly agitated with the flight crew over his seat assignment, allegedly arguing with them and causing a disturbance. Passengers described the scene as chaotic, with Cherilus’s behavior becoming more erratic by the minute.
Just an hour into the flight, Cherilus’s antics reached a new low when he urinated on an elderly passenger nearby. This shocking act of disrespect and disrespect sparked disbelief and concern among fellow travelers, who were shocked and disturbed by the player’s behavior. Matters only escalated when Cherilus hit another passenger and took their seat, before eventually passing out.
When authorities on board ordered Cherilus to leave the plane, he refused, becoming irate and uncooperative. This led to his arrest, where he was charged with disorderly conduct. The allegations against Cherilus were met with disdain by Judge Debra DelVecchio, who presided over his arraignment in East Boston District Court, stating, “It’s pretty egregious what you did, as alleged.”
In a statement on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Cherilus apologized to the passengers and flight crew, claiming that he had taken a sleeping medication that he does not normally use, which caused his erratic behavior. However, his lawyer and Cherilus himself did not comment on the incident further.
Delta Air Lines confirmed that an “unruly customer” had been on the flight, causing a delay that ultimately affected the other passengers, who were eventually flown to Dublin. The airline apologized for the delay and stated that it has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior, committing to cooperate fully with law enforcement.
Cherilus’s actions not only caused distress to fellow passengers but also wasted valuable time and resources. His behavior was a stark reminder of the importance of respecting fellow travelers and adhering to air travel etiquette.
