Comedy in professional wrestling has a rich history, with notable performers like The Rock, Booker T, Santino Marella, Mankind, and many others bringing laughter to fans over the years. The current wrestling terrain boasts a number of talented comedians, with AEW’s Orange Cassidy transitioning from a novelty act to a more serious character. In WWE, a range of performers excel at making the audience laugh. Some, like Bayley, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn, are naturally funny but don’t always portray humorous characters. Meanwhile, others have honed their comedic skills to become some of the top comedic acts in the promotion.

Akira Tozawa and Otis, once part of the Alpha Academy, brought immense entertainment to RAW. Otis, in particular, has gained a larger following due to his charismatic personality and impressive dance moves. As the duo continues to grow and evolve, fans can expect to see more of their comedic antics. Tozawa’s skills were on full display during his time as a member of the 24/7 title faction, and his dancing has become a staple of his character. With Otis having spoken out for himself and his friends, the duo is poised to bring even more humor to the ring.

The New Day, once the top comedy duo in WWE, has faced challenges in recent years. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who still manage to bring laughter to the ring, have taken on new roles. While it’s uncertain whether they will return to their comedic roots, they have shown the ability to still bring the funny when called upon. With Alpha Academy’s future uncertain, there is a possibility that the duo could reunite and resume their antics.

Pretty Deadly, a British duo consisting of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince, is another comedic force to be reckoned with. Their ability to seamlessly weave comedy and wrestling together has made them stand out. In matches, they have used the Eddie Guerrero tactic of feigning injuries to get under their opponents’ skin. The duo’s early career on the main roster has been marked by laughter and excitement, and they are sure to continue bringing the funny for years to come.

Chelsea Green, one of the most underrated comedic talents in the women’s division, has a track record of delivering hilarious performances. Her time in IMPACT Wrestling, where she played the role of the Hot Mess Laurel Van Ness, showcased her range. In WWE, she has brought a new level of humor to the ring, including a memorable appearance at Clash at the Castle. Her ping-ponging off stars in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble was a highlight of the match.

R-Truth is WWE’s funniest performer, with a 15-year tenure that has seen him become one of the top comedic stars in the business. From referential humor to physical comedy, Truth has made an art form of entertaining the WWE Universe. He doesn’t need a title to be over with fans, as his charismatic personality and quick wit make him a beloved figure in the company. The Performance Center recruits who didn’t come from the independent scene could learn a thing or two about character work from Truth.
