Prime Minister Narendra Modi released three books on the life and contributions of M Venkaiah Naidu, a former Union Minister and Vice President, highlighting his numerous achievements and dedication to the nation. Modi praised Naidu’s journey from being a farmer’s son to occupying high-ranking positions in the government, citing his tireless service to the nation as a testament to his unwavering commitment. Modi recalled Naidu’s decision to take up the Rural Development ministry and his tenure as Urban Development Minister, during which several initiatives, including the Swachh Bharat Mission and Smart Cities Mission, were launched.
Modi also commended Naidu’s exceptional oratory skills, wit, alertness, and spontaneity, referencing his iconic comment “BJP’s flag is in one hand and NDA’s agenda is in the other” during the Vajpayee regime. The Prime Minister noted that Naidu’s tenure as Chairman of Rajya Sabha saw the passage of the bill to abolish Article 370, despite the government not having a majority in the upper house. Modi credited Naidu and lakhs of activists like him for the growth of the BJP into a powerful force, likening it to a banyan tree that is nourished by the collective efforts of its countless branches.
Modi expressed hope that India would emerge as a developed nation by 2047, Naidu’s 100th birthday, and emphasized the importance of inspiring people to work towards this goal. He was confident that the books would ignite a fire in the hearts of the people, guiding them towards national service. Naidu, who was present at the event, thanked Modi for releasing the books and appreciated his efforts in promoting the country’s development. He emphasized the need for skill development, warning against the dangers of freebies that could make people lazy. Naidu also voiced his support for promoting Indian languages.
The books released by Modi include a biography, a photo chronicle, a pictorial biography in Telugu, and a book titled “Celebrating Bharat – The Mission and Message of Shri M Venkaiah Naidu as 13th Vice–President of India.” The event was attended by several leaders and prominent personalities, including Venkaiah Naidu himself. Modi concluded by expressing his confidence that the books would inspire people to serve the nation with the same passion and dedication as Naidu has demonstrated throughout his life.
