The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids on multiple locations in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, in connection with the Reasi terror attack case. The searches, conducted in response to an order from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, led to the seizure of various items that showed linkages between terrorists and overground workers (OGWs).
The Reasi terror attack occurred on June 9 when terrorists opened fire at a bus carrying “yatris” from Shiv Khori to Katra, causing the bus to fall into a nearby gorge and resulting in the deaths of nine people, including a child. The NIA took over the investigation on June 15 and has been working to unravel the terror conspiracy. The agency searched five locations that were linked to hybrid terrorists and OGWs, which were identified by arrested accused Hakam Khan alias Hakin Din.
Hakam had provided safe shelter, logistics, and food to the terrorists, according to the probe agency’s investigations. The NIA has started examining the seized material to further its investigation. The seized items have provided valuable insights into the modus operandi of the terrorists and their overground workers. The investigation has revealed the extent to which terrorists and their supporters are willing to go to cause harm to innocent civilians.
The Reasi terror attack was a devastating incident that shocked the nation and highlighted the need for a robust and effective investigation into the matter. The NIA’s determination to hold those responsible accountable is a crucial step in bringing justice to the families of the victims and in preventing similar attacks from occurring in the future. The investigation has also highlighted the importance of effective counter-terrorism measures and the need for coordinated efforts between different agencies and the government.
The NIA’s success in this regard will depend on its ability to work closely with other agencies and to access vital information and resources. The investigation is significant not only because of the horrific nature of the attack but also because it has revealed the extent to which terrorists and their supporters are willing to go to cause harm to innocent civilians.
