Salman Butt Slams Mohammad Hafeez Over Criticism of Pakistan Team

Salman Butt, a former Pakistan opener, has lashed out at his fellow countryman Mohammad Hafeez for discussing issues with the national team on an international platform. According to Butt, Hafeez should have taken actions when he was the men’s team director, rather than complaining now. This remark came after Hafeez appeared on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, where he spoke about the poor fitness levels of players during his tenure as director and mentioned that they used to sleep in the dressing room during Test matches.

Butt believes that Hafeez, as the team director, had the responsibility to address the issues and didn’t take adequate measures to improve the situation. He pointed out that Hafeez was in charge of the men’s team during the Test tour of Australia and the T20I series in New Zealand, where Pakistan managed only one win out of eight games. Butt questioned Hafeez’s competence as a director, stating that he failed to pick the right people for the team and didn’t carry out fitness tests.

In his criticism, Butt also mentioned that Hafeez instead chose to speak about his experiences on an international platform, rather than addressing the issues when he was in a position to make a difference. He asked why Hafeez didn’t ask for more control or backing during his tenure as director. Butt’s remarks have sparked controversy, with many wondering why Hafeez chose to speak publicly about his experiences rather than taking action during his time in charge.

The exchange between Butt and Hafeez has highlighted the issues facing the Pakistan cricket team, which recently suffered a group-stage exit from the T20 World Cup. The controversy has added to the pressure on the team and its management, with fans and experts alike debating the best way forward.
