In a recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette shared his thoughts on the current status and future of WWE star Ricochet. According to Cornette, Ricochet recently informed WWE officials that he would not renew his contract after it expires this year.
Cornette mentioned that Ricochet would at best be a mid-card babyface in WWE and would never be their top champion. However, he felt it would be better for the star if he stuck around and made more money before going into the independent scene. Cornette also spoke about Ricochet’s prospects outside WWE, stating that the star could appear in AEW but would never be a huge star in that company.
Cornette noted that AEW’s erratic booking doesn’t allow stars to break out as major players, and Ricochet could suffer the same fate as previous stars who jumped ship before. He stated that many supposedly flounder without proper storylines in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
During the conversation, Cornette mentioned that Ricochet would be getting destroyed by Bron Breakker on WWE RAW in recent weeks. He stated that the high flyer would never be WWE’s top champion and that it would be better for him to make more money before going into the independent scene. Cornette emphasized that Ricochet’s wife works there, and it’s the number one company and it’s not going anywhere. He also stated that if Ricochet gets another three-year contract, then he’s 38, and then he can go do some independents and he’s made a nice income.
Cornette concluded that Ricochet could be over in AEW, where he might even get more money out of Tony Khan because ‘Tony!’ But even huge stars that go there are nullified. So, if he went there, it’s not like he can make himself a star in AEW because nobody else has been able to, except for MJF.
