Cody Rhodes, the WWE Superstar, recently expressed gratitude on X/Twitter following his significant match at the Clash at the Castle 2024 Premium Live Event held at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Rhodes successfully defended his gold against AJ Styles in a rematch after previously defeating him at the 2024 King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event.
Rhodes’ tweet acknowledged the crowd in Glasgow and the crew working for the show, stating, “We make history with every step. Thank you Glasgow for being a wonderful host and the @OVOHydro / the wonderful crew working for @WWE @WWEUK. Let’s keep going.”
While the future of The American Nightmare remains unclear, former WWE head writer Vince Russo has speculated that WWE might not have any concrete plans for Rhodes’ title reign. During a recent episode of Writing with Russo, Russo suggested that Cody Rhodes’ current storylines could serve as fillers until The Rock or Roman Reigns return to television.
Russo further explained, “Just another filler till we get to The Rock or Roman Reigns, that’s all it is. With all the emphasis they put into, ‘He’s [Cody Rhodes] gotta finish his story!’ They [World Wrestling Entertainment] had zero plans in place for after he finished his story. They should have had heels lined up—strong heels! They had nothing. So you literally got the champion by just kind of wallowing in a sea [of obscurity]. Yeah, man, that’s where he is.”
As Rhodes contemplates his next move, fans have been discussing potential feuds, including one with Randy Orton. Following Rhodes’ “I Quit” match, The Bloodline attacked him, but Kevin Owens and Randy Orton came to his rescue. Orton, intrigued by the Undisputed WWE Championship, shared a lingering gaze with Rhodes, hinting at a possible rivalry.
As Cody Rhodes moves forward in his wrestling journey, speculation regarding his future and the intentions of WWE Creative continues to stir among wrestling enthusiasts and industry analysts alike.
