Vince Russo, former WWE head writer, has criticized the company’s handling of Damian Priest, asserting that the backstage skits are making him look foolish. Priest, the current World Heavyweight Champion, won the title at WrestleMania XL and has since been featured in several backstage segments, including a recent challenge to Drew McIntyre to face Finn Balor.

Russo took issue with the WWE creative team’s approach to these skits, stating that they are detrimental to Priest’s image. On Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo opined, “Bro, these clubhouse skits again, ridiculous…They’re really starting to make Damian Priest look like an idiot…They’re really are…They’re at the point now, all this clubhouse stuff now, the same dialogue every week, the pass key and the room key, now they’re really starting to make him look stupid.”

Despite these criticisms, Priest must focus on his title defense at Clash at the Castle this Saturday. On the latest episode of WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre defeated Finn Balor, ensuring that The Judgment Day is barred from ringside during the match. It remains to be seen if Priest can retain the gold in front of McIntyre’s home crowd.
