WWE has officially confirmed the expiration of a legendary wrestler’s contract following recent reports that surfaced. The star in question has also addressed this development.
Transitioning into the creative helm from Vince McMahon, Triple H has taken on the responsibility. Speculation suggests that the change in management could explain why Lawler’s contract was not renewed. Booker T expressed surprise at the news.
Jerry Lawler’s name has quietly vanished from the company’s website, except for the Hall of Fame section, highlighting his iconic status rather than his current active roster position.
While not included in the Alumni section, Lawler remains affiliated with the company through his legend’s contract, according to reports. He continues to be recognized in the Hall of Fame segment.
In a recent interview with PWInsider, Jerry Lawler addressed the situation, acknowledging that many were curious about his status with WWE. Reflecting on his health challenges, particularly after suffering a stroke, he admitted that even tasks like commentary had become exceedingly challenging for him.
The wrestling community will honor Jerry Lawler at an upcoming event in Evansville, Indiana. The gathering will feature tributes from several WWE legends such as Dutch Mantel, Mick Foley, The Steiner Brothers, The Hardys, Ron Simmons, among others. Scheduled for May 10 and 11, the event will comprise a VIP show on the first day and a convention on the second.
Despite Lawler’s reduced involvement with the company, his legend’s contract may still allow for occasional cameo appearances.
