Veteran journalist Bill Apter recently shared his thoughts on a video posted by released WWE Superstar Cameron Grimes, describing it as one of the saddest things he had ever witnessed.
Cameron Grimes, who was recently let go from the Stamford-based promotion along with other superstars, had not yet gained significant recognition from the mainstream audience. His sudden release surprised many veterans and fellow wrestlers. In a heartfelt social media post, Cameron tearfully announced his new status as a free agent.
During an episode of The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter expressed his emotions about the situation. He highlighted the impact of Cameron’s release, stating, “One of the most sad things I have ever seen. Cameron Grimes has been released as of when we are taping this today, and he put a video on Twitter crying that his whole life has been made up of WWE. Before his father died, he told him that he has been signed with WWE and made him happy and now years later, they have just released him. That’s one of the most heart-wrenching videos I have ever seen.”
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long also weighed in on the matter, noting that releases like Cameron Grimes’ are not uncommon in the wrestling industry. Long expressed his sympathy for Cameron, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the pro wrestling business. He emphasized the transient nature of careers in the industry, stating, “These guys have to understand, you know. In this business nothing lasts forever. Okay? You can’t do this the rest of your life. You may think you are doing good and some ideas may not see that. You know what I mean, so, I just, I feel bad for him that he has taken it this hard. You know what I mean, golly man.”
The future for Cameron Grimes remains uncertain following his release from WWE. It is yet to be determined what his next steps will be in his wrestling career.
