Manchester City’s bid to defend their Champions League title came to an end, much to the delight of rival fans, as they were eliminated by Real Madrid.

The Cityzens suffered a heartbreaking defeat on Wednesday, losing 4-3 on penalties to Los Blancos after the tie ended 4-4 on aggregate following an intense 120 minutes of play at the Etihad Stadium.

In the aftermath of the loss, rival fans took to social media to mock Manchester City, with some celebrating the end of their ambitious pursuit. Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher praised Real Madrid, emphasizing the significance of their football heritage.

City’s star player Erling Haaland had a disappointing performance yet again, being substituted off after 90 minutes. This led to criticism from fans, highlighting his tendency to ‘disappear’ in crucial matches.

Amidst the disappointment, one City fan expressed frustration at Bernardo Silva’s penalty miss, adding a comical twist to the defeat.

Although Manchester City failed to retain their European trophy, they still have a chance to salvage pride by defending their Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Following Arsenal and Liverpool’s setbacks in the league over the weekend, Pep Guardiola’s side now leads the title race, sitting two points clear at the top of the table.

Next up for Manchester City is a crucial FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea on Saturday, where they will look to bounce back from their Champions League disappointment.
