Teenage forward Endrick has added another trophy to his collection with Brazilian club Palmeiras before his anticipated move to Real Madrid in the summer.
The 17-year-old played a pivotal role as his team clinched its third consecutive Sao Paulo state championship with a 2-0 victory over local rival Santos on Sunday.
Endrick, who recently scored two goals for Brazil in friendlies, drew the penalty that led to Raphael Veiga opening the scoring in the 33rd minute. Anibal Moreno secured the second goal in the 67th minute. Santos had won the first leg 1-0.
“I know I’m part of a new generation, I’ve faced challenges. My dream is to become an idol for all kids,” Endrick expressed.
“I understand it’s not easy because not everyone supports me, but I want to inspire them. I want them to see me and believe that if I can achieve this, they can too.”
Endrick was instrumental in Palmeiras’ previous successes, winning the Sao Paulo championship title in 2023 and the Brazilian championship titles in 2022 and 2023.
With just over two months remaining at Palmeiras before his move to Spain on a lucrative deal with Madrid, Endrick’s departure is imminent.
During his recent national team stint for friendlies against England and Spain, Endrick revealed he was frequently asked about his impending transfer.
“Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo asked when I was arriving. Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães, too, were curious about my move to Madrid,” he shared. “I know I’m leaving, but my focus remains here.”
Endrick expressed gratitude to Palmeiras, where he honed his skills in the youth divisions.
“Palmeiras believed in me when I had nothing,” he acknowledged. “This title is for everyone associated with Palmeiras, the staff, and all the supporters.”
