Inter Miami’s standout performer, Luis Suarez, earned the prestigious title of MLS Player of the Month on Friday, following an exceptional display in the first seven games for the Herons.
Suarez, the Uruguayan sensation, made history as the first-ever Inter Miami player to clinch this accolade after an impressive run of five goals and three assists in seven MLS matches throughout February and March.
His stellar contributions also earned him the distinction of being named MLS Player of the Matchday twice during the same period.
Since joining the Florida-based team during the offseason, Suarez has been a revelation, seamlessly integrating into the squad alongside Lionel Messi and others.
His remarkable performances have been instrumental in guiding Inter Miami to second place in the Eastern Conference at the start of the season.
Despite Messi’s absence due to injury for three MLS matches, Suarez stepped up admirably, featuring in eight out of ten possible matches and contributing to a total of 12 goals across all competitions.
Interestingly, although Suarez trailed Lewis Morgan of NYRB in goals scored and Chicho Arango of RSL in total goal contributions during February and March, his exceptional form ultimately secured him the Player of the Month award over these frontrunners.
Looking ahead, Inter Miami will face the Colorado Rapids in MLS action on Saturday evening before shifting focus to the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup tie with CF Monterrey in Mexico on Wednesday evening.
