Chelsea’s hat-trick hero, Cole Palmer, dubbed his team’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United as nothing short of “madness.”

In a rollercoaster encounter, the Red Devils initially seemed poised to claim a significant win after Alejandro Garnacho’s brace and Bruno Fernandes’ header seemingly negated Palmer’s penalty and Conor Gallagher’s opener.

However, a second penalty in the 100th minute and a dramatic 101st-minute winner sealed the sensational comeback for Chelsea. Reflecting on the match, Palmer struggled to articulate his emotions.

“I don’t know [how Chelsea came back],” he expressed to TNT Sports. “[We were] 2-0 up and like I said last week we had silly mistakes. When the eight minutes got added on it gave us a lift – madness.

We need to try to win as many games as possible. To win like that, there is nothing better. We thought when we scored the second goal the fans lifted us and I saw the gaffer say there were two minutes left and thankfully I scored.”

He further remarked, “You know I have taken many penalties, I am not going to miss a penalty, touch wood. To score on the last minute is crazy.”

Palmer’s stellar performance this season, marked by his 19th goal following his transfer from Manchester City last summer, solidifies his status as one of the standout signings. Additionally, his tally of eight assists surpasses that of any of his teammates.

Interestingly, despite spending 13 years at Manchester City after joining the club at the age of eight, Palmer admitted to being a Manchester United supporter during his youth.

Looking ahead, Palmer’s Chelsea, currently positioned 10th in the Premier League, will regroup as they face bottom-placed Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

With two games in hand and trailing seventh-placed West Ham by two points, the Blues aim to capitalize on their momentum.
