Neal Maupay teased Scott McTominay and joked that the Manchester United player was a keen fan “desperate for his shirt” after an altercation with the Brentford striker.
Brentford salvaged a point against United on Saturday, with Kristoffer Ajer’s goal canceling out Mason Mount’s late opener.
During the match, where manager Thomas Frank expressed frustration at his team almost losing despite their dominance, Neal Maupay and Scott McTominay had a confrontation.
Following the game, Maupay humorously addressed the incident on social media.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Maupay shared a photo of the clash between him and McTominay at Gtech Community Stadium, captioning it: “This fan was desperate for my shirt.”
The draw brought Brentford a step closer to securing safety in the Premier League, but it dealt a significant blow to United’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Despite fourth-placed Aston Villa and fifth-placed Tottenham winning their matches, Erik ten Hag’s side now trails Villa by 11 points and Spurs by eight.
Additionally, the result adds further pressure on Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.
Brentford, currently 15th in the league, will face Brighton in another home fixture on Wednesday. Meanwhile, sixth-placed United will travel to Stamford Bridge to take on mid-table Chelsea the following day.
