Brentford manager Thomas Frank revealed his emotions, revealing why he felt disheartened during his team’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Despite Mason Mount seemingly sealing a dramatic win for Manchester United with a 96th-minute goal, Brentford’s Kristoffer Ajer swiftly countered with a deserved equalizer just three minutes later.
Following the intense match at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, Manager Frank disclosed the reason behind his momentary disillusionment with the sport.
Brentford rattled the woodwork four times before Mount’s goal; they amassed 31 shots on target compared to United’s 11, and their expected goals stood at 3.11 versus United’s 0.51.
Consequently, before the equalizer, Manager Frank found himself feeling somewhat disheartened.
Frank expressed, “How we didn’t win this game is incredible. It was the most one-sided 1-1 game. There should have been only one winner in the game, that could only be us.
Then you go 1-0 down in the 96th minute, and you think football is brutal. I almost lost faith in the football god but he gave a bit back.”
Next in line for Frank’s Brentford, currently positioned 15th in the table, is a clash with Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, currently in sixth place, will travel to face Chelsea in the English top flight the following day.
