Chelsea are among a long list of teams eyeing goalkeeper Bento, following his impressive performances for Brazil and Athletico Paranaense.
According to Globo Esporte, Chelsea are planning a summer transfer bid for the 24-year-old.
However, Inter, Benfica, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest are also reported to be in the running to sign the shot-stopper during the summer transfer window.
The competition to sign Bento is intensifying, as Athletico and the player’s agent have received several inquiries about his contract. His representative is set to meet with the Brazilian club in the coming days to discuss his situation.
Having already rejected €15 million (£13m/$16m) offers for him, Athletico Paranaense will demand significantly more for Bento, who progressed through the club’s youth academy to become a first-team standout.
Bento received praise after making his Brazil debut against England last week, stepping in for Ederson and Alisson. Since making his senior debut for the club in 2020, he has already made 149 appearances for Athletico.
Chelsea might soon make an offer to bring Bento to the Premier League as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options, with Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, and Marcus Bettinelli currently available for coach Mauricio Pochettino.
