AC Milan’s Olivier Giroud is on the brink of joining LAFC after Euro 2024, where he will link up with Lionel Messi in MLS.
According to The Athletic, Los Angeles FC is nearing a deal to acquire the veteran French forward, who is poised to make the move on a free transfer following Euro 2024.
Giroud’s contract with Milan is due to expire on June 1, coinciding with the conclusion of the continental tournament on July 14, and the opening of the transfer window in the U.S. just four days later.
Despite his age, the 37-year-old is expected to commit to a deal that spans the MLS 2025 season.
LAFC, holding the MLS discovery rights for Giroud, maintains priority in securing his signature over other clubs in the league and is currently in the process of finalizing the agreement.
Remarkably, Giroud has maintained a prolific scoring record despite his advancing years, tallying 14 goals and nine assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri this season.
Ahead of his anticipated move, Giroud is slated to feature for Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan side in Serie A action against Fiorentina on Friday.
