Bono, the iconic frontman of U2, stunned an audience at the Sarajevo Film Festival’s opening night with an a cappella rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” following a screening of the documentary “Kiss The Future.” The film, directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain and produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, delves into U2’s connection with war-torn Sarajevo in the 1990s. The documentary highlights the band’s efforts to raise awareness about the Bosnian War, which prompted an American aid worker to reach out to U2 in an effort to garner international attention.
During their Zoo TV Tour, U2 featured live satellite interviews with locals from Sarajevo, who shared their struggles with concert-goers. The band eventually performed a concert for thousands of fans after the city was liberated. Bono and fellow U2 band member The Edge made appearances on the red carpet, greeted by fans and fellow cast members of the documentary.
